On November 20th, 2022, School of Economics and Management is honored to invite Professor Jian Zuo from the University of Adelaide to share his research results on the sustainability of the living environment of elder Australians. As a Principal Investigator at the University of Adelaide, Professor Zuo has long been engaged in sustainable building, eco-town and green house research, and has published more than 100 papers in top periodicals, making him a leader in sustainability research.

 

21 international students and 24 graduate students participated in this online seminar. At the beginning of this seminar, Dr. Wei Wang, as the host of this seminar, first introduced the academic background of Professor Jian Zuo and the theme of this seminar to other participants, and expressed a warm welcome to Professor Jian Zuo.


In this seminar, Professor Jian Zuo mainly introduced his research on improving the thermal environment of housing for the elderly in Australia, specifically demonstrated the background, theme, used methods and survey timeline about this research, and then highlighted his research conclusions, explaining that the thermal environment and sustainability of housing for the elderly are affected by their behaviors, thermal perception ability and personal objective factors. Finally,he proposed relevant solutions about how to improve the thermal comfort of housing for the elderly in Australia.

 

  

Many students discussed with Professor Jian Zuo on green and sustainable development. From Professor Zuo's explanation, students expressed that they had benefited a lot, and anticipated for subsequent communication. In the end, Professor Jinxiao Zhang discussed the content of this seminar with Professor Jian Zuo and asked some questions.


This seminar expanded the research horizons of international students and graduate students of our school, further strengthened their international sight and enhanced the cooperation between students and foreign experts.
